Track Finishes in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. - In the final day of its first outdoor track meet of the season, Utah Valley finished strong competing primarily in running events. Mariama Salifu had a strong spring in the second day finishing in the top-10 in her second consecutive race. Salifu ran an 11.84 in the 100 meter dash, finishing fourth in the race. Shantay Hall and Jami Daniels also ran, posting respective times of 13.03 and 13.31. Chelsea Baker had a near-school record time in the 400 meter dash, running a 57.99, six-tenths of a second off the school record of 57.39. Tiera Zaugg and Amy Poll finished behind Baker for the Wolverines. Alise Lindsey led UV short-distance runners with a top-10 finish in the 800 meters. Lindsey finished seventh in the race with a time of 2:17.01. Amanda Peart had a pair of strong finishes in the 100 and 400 meter hurdles. Ashley Timo had a strong jumping day for the second consecutive day with a strong finish in the high jump. On the men's side, Brandon Lovell led the Wolverines with a strong finish in the 400 meter dash with a 10th-place finish time of 49.52. Chase Englestead finished in the top-10 in a race for the second consecutive date as he finished yesterday's strong run in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a nineth-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.69. Andrew Graham finished 12th in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.26, following up on his 54.66 time in the 400 meter hurdles yesterday. UV will next compete on April 4 at BYU. |
