SEATTLE, Wash. - Utah Valley was shut out for the second time in three games as Washington completed a three-game sweep with a 5-0 win behind a strong pitching performance from Jorden Merry.

Merry (3-0) threw seven innings and struck out nine while allowing just four hits and at one point retired 14 out of 15 UV hitters. Elliott Cribby and Tyler Cheney pitched perfect innings in relief for Washington.

The Huskies (12-6) won their seventh straight game while sending the Wolverines (5-16-1) to their fifth straight loss.

Washington took a 2-0 lead in the second when Michael Burgher singled to left with the bases loaded and two out to drive in two runs. David Bentrott followed Burgher with an RBI single to give UW a 3-0 lead.

Ty Rasmussen hit his second home run of the season in the third to make the score 4-0 before Joey Dunn hit an RBI single in the fifth to give the Huskies a 5-0 advantage.

The Wolverines only real threat to score came in the seventh inning after Jace Brinkerhoff singled and Kai Hatch walked to lead off the inning. But Merry retired the next three hitters including Josh Hinckley and Brock Sargent with back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning.

Aaron Brady (1-2) took the loss after allowing five runs on nine hits in seven innings of work. Kole Mickolio came on in relief to pitch a perfect eighth inning for the Wolverines.

After 21 consecutive games to begin the season away from home, Utah Valley will finally play a game at Brent Brown Ballpark on Tuesday when Utah makes the trip to Orem for a 7pm game.
