LAS VEGAS - In its final day of the UNLV Rebel Round Robin Utah Valley fell to Nebraska, 5-3 and UNLV 9-1.

Against Nebraska, Utah Valley and the Huskers played evenly throughout the game. Nebraska scored first in the top of the first when the Huskers manufactured a run on an infield single, stolen base, sacrifice and a RBI single through the right side.

The Wolverines responded in the bottom of the second with a run of their own. Jessica Anderson led the inning off with a single, moved to second on a ground out, to third on a passed ball and scored on a Kylee Steadman RBI single to right.

UV took a lead with a run in the bottom of the fourth when Lauren Augino got a seeing-eye single up the middle, stole second base and scored on a Magan Niemann single that was mishandled in the outfield.

In the fifth, Nebraska answered with four runs to take a 5-1 lead. The Huskers got four hits and took advantage of two UV errors in the inning. The Wolverines got a run back in the bottom of the seventh but the Huskers held on for the win.

In the second game UNLV jumped to an early lead after scoring a run apiece in each of the first and second innings to build a 2-0 advantage.

The Wolverines came back with a run of its own in the top of the third when Abby Bowcutt led the inning off with a double down the left field line and later scored from third by beating a throw on a RBI grounder from Meghan Woodworth to cut the lead to 2-1. The Rebels came back with two runs in the bottom of the frame to extend their lead to 4-1. After UNLV scored one in the fourth and hit a grand slam in the fifth to end the game.

The Wolverines will return home for their second home double header of the season. Utah Valley will take on South Dakota State at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
